About the Organisation
The West Moreton Health Foundation exists to change people’s lives by supporting West Moreton Health. Its vision is to become the local charity of choice, maximising impact for healthier communities across one of Queensland’s fastest-growing regions.
The Foundation supports communities throughout the West Moreton Health catchment, which encompasses Ipswich, Somerset, Scenic Rim and Lockyer Valley. Over recent years, the organisation has undergone significant transformation, successfully rebranding to better reflect its role as a regionally focused organisation that serves all of the West Moreton communities.
The Foundation employs approximately 17 staff across fundraising, marketing, governance, finance, operations and social enterprise activities. It operates several revenue-generating initiatives including hospital car park licences and a growing social enterprise portfolio. The organisation has also established strong partnerships with community donors, business leaders, government stakeholders and health service executives.
Today, the Foundation is recognised for its close partnership with West Moreton Health, strong local identity, growing donor relationships and commitment to improving health outcomes throughout the region.

Current Context & Strategic Direction
The Foundation is now entering an important phase in its development. Over the past four and a half years, considerable groundwork has been laid to strengthen governance, stakeholder relationships, brand recognition and fundraising capability. While these foundations are now in place, the organisation is entering a period where execution, profitability and sustainability become the primary focus.
Key strategic priorities include:
- Reducing long-term reliance on hospital car park licence revenue
- Increasing fundraising revenue through major donor, corporate partnership and philanthropic engagement strategies
- Improving profitability across all revenue streams and ensuring growth translates into increased impact spend
- Strengthening organisational capability, culture and accountability
- Deepening engagement across the broader West Moreton region following the recent rebrand
The Foundation’s current fundraising model has deliberately shifted away from costly mass-market fundraising programs and toward a more relationship-driven approach centred on major gifts, high-value community supporters and corporate partnerships. Early signs are encouraging, but significant growth remains essential if the organisation is to achieve its long-term ambitions.
The incoming CEO will inherit a committed team, a supportive Board and strong stakeholder goodwill. They will also inherit real strategic challenges, including increasing impact spend against target, reducing risks associated with future car park revenue arrangements and the need to identify sustainable growth opportunities.
This role offers the opportunity to shape the next chapter of an organisation with genuine regional influence and substantial untapped potential.

- Reviewing and validating the existing strategic direction, including developing a clear pathway towards profitable revenue-stream diversification

Key Selection Criteria (Expanded Overview)
Leadership & People
You are an authentic and accountable leader who builds engaged, capable and high-performing teams. You establish clarity, address difficult issues constructively and create an environment where collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement flourish. Experience leading organisational change and supporting teams through transition will be highly regarded.
Strategy & Governance
You have demonstrated success translating strategy into measurable outcomes. You can evaluate complex environments, identify risks and opportunities, develop practical responses and focus an organisation on the activities that create the greatest long-term impact. Experience navigating growth, transformation or diversification strategies is desirable.
You understand how to operate effectively in a Board-led environment, whether through executive-level reporting to a Board, close engagement with Board committees, or experience in a governance role within a not-for-profit or purpose-led organisation. You bring sound judgement, clear reporting discipline and an appreciation of good governance, risk oversight and strategic accountability.
Operational or Technical Expertise
You possess strong commercial and financial acumen and understand the importance of organisational sustainability. You are comfortable analysing profitability, evaluating revenue streams, allocating resources effectively and making evidence-based decisions. Experience within fundraising, philanthropy, social enterprise or mission-driven organisations is essential.
The Foundation is seeking a leader who is prepared to roll up their sleeves and lead from the front. In a relatively small organisation, the CEO is expected to be actively involved in fundraising, major donor engagement, community partnerships and stakeholder relationship management, rather than operating solely at a governance or strategic level.
Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
You are a skilled relationship builder who creates trust and credibility with diverse stakeholders. Whether engaging major donors, community leaders, government representatives, health service executives, corporate partners or Boards, you demonstrate influence, diplomacy and strong communication skills. Above all, you bring a sophisticated understanding of relationship fundraising, recognising that successful donor engagement is built on trust, shared purpose and strategic stewardship. You are comfortable translating strong relationships into meaningful philanthropic partnerships that deliver tangible outcomes for the community.
Values, Integrity & Cultural Alignment
You are motivated by community impact and bring a strong commitment to ethical leadership, transparency and accountability. You lead with humility, professionalism and resilience, while remaining focused on improving outcomes for the communities served by the Foundation.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an emerging or established executive who combines strong leadership capability with a genuine passion for community impact. You are likely to bring experience in fundraising, philanthropy, corporate partnerships, community engagement or purpose-driven leadership and possess the commercial acumen required to build sustainable revenue streams. Experience reporting to a Board or contributing to not-for-profit governance would be a valuable advantage.
Highly relational, you will be visible in the community and comfortable serving as the public face of an organisation with an understanding on how to inspire teams, engage stakeholders and convert strategic opportunities into measurable outcomes.
Most importantly, you are excited by the opportunity to shape the future of a growing regional foundation and leave a lasting legacy across the West Moreton communities.
