About the Role
This appointment comes at an important stage in the development of Purpose Real Estate, a subsidiary entity, within the Coast2Bay Group, that is playing an increasingly significant role in the organisation’s affordable housing and property management activities. As the portfolio continues to expand and governance obligations become increasingly complex, the Board is seeking to strengthen its capability through the appointment of an experienced Non-Executive Director.
Purpose Real Estate operates within a dynamic environment characterised by portfolio growth, increasing asset complexity and an expanding role in affordable housing and property-related services. The organisation requires contemporary governance oversight to support sustainable growth, prudent risk management and strong regulatory compliance.
For Directors, this creates an opportunity to apply significant property and governance expertise in a role where every strategic decision has the potential to deliver both commercial value and lasting social impact
As a member of the Board, the successful candidate will contribute independent judgement, strategic insight and sector perspective to support effective governance and long-term organisational success.
Operating as a governance board rather than an operational body, the incoming Director will be expected to:
- Provide strategic oversight of Purpose Real Estate’s growth, performance and risk profile.
- Contribute informed perspectives on property, housing and commercial sector developments.
- Support effective governance of affordable housing, property management and related activities.
- Monitor compliance with relevant regulatory, licensing and governance obligations.
- Participate actively in Board deliberations, offering constructive challenge and independent judgement.
- Help balance commercial objectives with the broader social purpose of the Coast2Bay Group.

Key Selection Criteria (Expanded Overview)
Leadership & People
Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively as an experienced and independent Non-Executive Director. The successful candidate will actively participate in governance discussions, build productive relationships with fellow Directors and contribute positively to a collaborative, consensus-driven Board environment. Previous Board experience within regulated, property-related or commercial environments will be highly regarded.Strategy & Planning
Ability to contribute strategic insight and commercial judgement to support the ongoing growth of Purpose Real Estate. The successful candidate will help guide long-term planning, assess opportunities and risks associated with portfolio growth, and ensure governance decisions remain aligned with both commercial objectives and Coast2Bay’s broader organisational purpose.Operational or Technical Expertise
While the role is governance-focused rather than operational, the Board is seeking a Director with deep technical expertise from the real estate sector. This may include experience in commercial real estate, property management, facilities management, corporate licensed agencies, commercial landlord environments or related property industries. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of property-sector governance, trust accounting, licensing requirements, tenancy obligations, compliance frameworks and the broader regulatory environment governing real estate operations. Experience within large and sophisticated property organisations is strongly preferred. Legal expertise relating to the Property Occupations Act or property-sector regulation would also be beneficial.Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
The successful candidate will bring professional credibility, industry networks and external perspective that strengthen governance oversight and organisational reputation. Established relationships across the property, real estate, facilities management, development or affordable housing sectors will be highly valued, together with the ability to positively influence strategic outcomes and support stakeholder confidence.Values, Integrity & Cultural Alignment

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an accomplished senior executive, business leader or Non-Executive Director with experience gained within the property, real estate, facilities management, housing, development or related sectors.
They will bring strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking and a governance mindset, together with the confidence to contribute independently while working constructively within a collegiate Board environment.
The successful candidate will be recognised for their integrity, sound judgement and professional credibility. They will demonstrate an ability to analyse complex issues, ask insightful questions and contribute to high-quality decision-making.
Importantly, they will be motivated by the organisation’s purpose and understand the role that effective governance plays in supporting both commercial performance and positive housing outcomes for communities.
