Payroll Officer – 4 days per week

Location: Brisbane, QLD
Role: Permanent

Join a warm, purpose‑driven Mental Health organisation in a period of exciting growth.

  • Purpose driven organisation
  • South Brisbane location + flexible working arrangements
  • 4 days per week, six month contract
  • SCHADS Award Level 4.4 + salary packaging

Our client, a warm and community‑centred mental health charity, is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to support them through an exciting period of growth. With staff numbers set to double following a recent acquisition, the organisation needs someone who can confidently manage an end‑to‑end, multi‑state payroll while upholding the empathy and care that define its culture.

A strong, demonstrable understanding of the SCHADS Award is essential, as is a minimum of two to three years’ payroll experience within a similar environment.

The role involves overseeing a smooth fortnightly payroll cycle, reviewing timesheets and allowances, liaising with ADP payroll services and ensuring that all queries are handled with accuracy, professionalism and calm. Experience with Realtime (integrated with ADP) is advantageous but not required.

What truly sets this organisation apart is its deeply human approach. Staff wellbeing is taken seriously, communication is open and supportive and the Payroll Officer is expected to bring not only technical capability but a genuinely empathetic ear. Many employees carry lived experience of mental health challenges, so sensitivity, patience and kindness are central to the role.

Working four days per week, the position offers a six‑month contract with strong potential for extension, along with two days of working from home and close collaboration with the Senior Accountant and wider finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants their payroll expertise to contribute to meaningful, purpose‑driven work within a compassionate and values‑led organisation.

If you are confident with SCHADS, skilled in payroll and motivated by a role that blends precision with humanity, this position offers both purpose and a truly supportive environment.
