Operations Manager – faith based movement

Location: Brisbane, QLD

Use your operational leadership and management expertise to strategically enable mission, ensuring people, processes and purpose connect.

  • Requires significant exp with ops and admin function, preferably in a mission led organisation
  • Energetic & focused, servant heart
  • FT Brisbane based, flexible

This is a role for someone who understands that good operations rarely seek the spotlight, but that everything falls apart without them. This values‑led, faith‑based movement supports a diverse network of autonomous churches and ministries across Queensland. At the centre sits a small, committed operations and governance team whose purpose is simple and demanding at the same time: to hold the structures steady so mission can flourish.

Operating within a highly relational, collaborative model, churches are autonomous, ministries diverse, and governance shared. Property, people, compliance and care are deeply connected to trust. Change is underway – intentionally, thoughtfully and with respect for deeply held convictions. The movement is strengthening its systems and ways of working for the future, without losing the heart that defines it.

A servant‑hearted leadership role with real complexity.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager plays a pivotal senior leadership role across the daily functioning of the organisation. This includes responsibility for administration, HR coordination, governance support, compliance, WHS, property oversight, communications and operational planning. The team you lead is capable, committed and diverse, and the work is broad, from governance papers and HR matters to systems improvement, coordination across the movement, and questions relating to property.

This is not a narrow role, and it is not a purely technical one. It requires judgement, emotional intelligence and the ability to work well in ambiguity. Policies matter, but relationships matter more. Structure is important, but so is grace. You will need to be comfortable bringing order where processes are still forming, and calm where complexity is unavoidable.

Success will come through your significant experience in operations, administration or business management. You understand people and systems, and you know that sustainable operations are built patiently, not imposed. You are collaborative by nature, able to engage credibly with senior leaders, pastors and colleagues, and confident working without hierarchy or ego.

This position will appeal to someone for whom purpose outweighs profile – someone motivated by contributing to something enduring, supporting churches and leaders across Queensland, and knowing your professional capability is used in service of a mission bigger than any single role.
