EA to CEO + Support to ELT – Qld Nonprofit

Location: Brisbane, QLD
Role: Permanent

A steady, seasoned partner at the heart of meaningful work

  • Busy, central support role where you’ll soon be “irreplaceable”
  • Must be capable and compassionate with a contingency plan for everything!
  • Inner northern suburbs. Ample free parking + future hybrid flexibility

Use your seasoned judgement and no‑nonsense clarity to bring calm, cohesion and direction to a newly forming ELT.

In an organisation where children find their voices, where families gain hope and where every small breakthrough is celebrated as a major triumph, the work is both inspiring and deeply human. It is within this environment, one shaped by compassion, purpose and the pursuit of life‑changing outcomes, that an exceptional Executive Assistant is now sought. This is not a conventional administrative appointment; it is a pivotal role supporting a newly forming Executive Leadership Team and partnering directly with a high‑energy, forward‑driving CEO during a period of organisational evolution.

You will be the grounding presence at the centre of this change, an individual of experience, clarity and composure who brings steadiness where there is pace and perspective. The CEO is candid, dynamic and energetic and seeks an EA who will communicate directly, “cut out the nonsense” and provide honest, unvarnished insight. This partnership requires someone who is confident enough to challenge constructively, perceptive enough to anticipate risks and practical enough to help maintain direction amidst competing demands.

What is needed is not merely competence, but professional maturity: a seasoned EA who remains unflappable under pressure, capable of navigating shifting priorities with grace and comfortable offering realism, even healthy scepticism, when it helps clarify decision‑making. This is a role for a thoughtful realist, someone who grounds the energy around them, calmly interrogates what needs attention and supports leadership in making well‑considered choices.

Equally important is the ability to serve as a bridge across the organisation. The Executive Assistant will move seamlessly between executives, clinicians, operational teams and external stakeholders – connecting people, smoothing transitions and ensuring communication is clear and aligned. It requires someone who can “run with the foxes and hunt with the hounds”: equally at ease in senior strategic discussions as they are when supporting front‑line conversations or easing the path for those adjusting to change.

At this moment in the organisation’s journey, cultural steadiness matters. The EA will be a stabilising force, someone who brings reassurance, continuity and quiet confidence at a time when new structures, expectations and rhythms are taking shape. The individual who succeeds here will be values‑aligned, trusted at all levels and committed to helping create a calm, coherent operating environment in which the ELT can perform at their best.

While experience and a good sense of self, allows you to define your work boundaries and cope with anything that comes along, your real winning attribute is the ability to stay cool and handle all situations with equanimity, humour, style and grace.
