Chief Financial Officer

Location: Brisbane, QLD
Role: Executive

Seasoned all-round financial expert to future-proof a social enterprise that helps make a meaningful impact for children and families.

  • CA/CPA or tertiary degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Bus Admin
  • Experience in early childhood sector, community services, education and/or nonprofit sectors
  • Brisbane northern suburb. Local travel. Flexible hybrid working conditions.

Strategise, transform, revitalise & restructure the financial base so the business can flourish – along with the children.

After 35+ years in operation, this highly regarded, child-centred social enterprise operates local care services outside of school-hours (OSHC) in 23 state schools across South-East Queensland.  Alongside its OSHC services, it also delivers community support programs for children and families, broadening its impact across the communities it serves. Unique in its approach, it focuses on helping children build connection, confidence and a genuine sense of belonging through play, relationships and community.

As a purpose‑driven organisation deepening its impact through new partnerships, evolving services and expanding community reach, this special enterprise now needs an astute financial leader to guide its next chapter.

A seasoned strategic thinker with the financial expertise to shape and deliver multi‑year financial strategies that support sustainable growth. You’ll bring the capability to work collaboratively across the organisation to implement a thoughtful, future‑focused financial plan supported by diversified, sustainable income streams.

A trusted advisor and strategic partner to the CEO, and a member of the Executive, you’ll oversee all aspects of the financial operations – from initial planning through to successful execution. Drawing on your previous leadership roles, you’ll appreciate that your remit will include ‘everything fiscal. ’  including accounting, treasury, risk and systems management, governance and compliance, stakeholder relations (of which there are many), financial reporting, continual improvements – and much more.

Excellence will always be the benchmark; blue sky thinking and innovative planning the stretch and the anticipation of future needs and the systems they’ll require, your ‘super power.’

If you thrive when you’re aligned to a great social cause … this could be for you.

To be considered, you’ll need a significant record in a comparable financial leadership role, where you’ve led organisational growth and expansion, developed expertise across multi-site operations, gained experience in the early childhood sector (highly desirable), community services, education and/or non-profit and can show a demonstrable grasp of advanced financial systems, controls and reporting requirements.

A visionary, analytical problem‑solver, you translate complex financial concepts into everyday language and work in close alignment with the Executive Leadership Team to support organisation‑wide transformation and ongoing improvement
