Kick start or boost your CEO career … with a quality proven brand …
This program supports young students to improve their literacy and motivation through calm, supportive reading experiences. The warm, accepting nature of dogs creates a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere, helping children feel at ease, and ready to enjoy the process of reading. By offering a safe, non‑judgemental environment where students from Year 2 and above can read aloud to a friendly, attentive companion, the program reduces anxiety, builds confidence, and fosters a genuine love of reading.
This isn’t just hearsay. These are tried and tested nonprofit programs that have run with great success for many decades in the USA and here in Australia since 2009. Already, 380 schools are reaping the benefits of reading dogs, with many more schools yet to discover the magic.
… and a nonprofit enterprise with great goodwill and flourishing development potential.
With an Australia-wide, decentralised Board that’s aligned, collegiate and actively ‘professionalising’ governance, this exceptional enterprise is aiming to become a major charitable organisation. Stable, values led and operating with a lean Support Central structure – IT/HR/Auditors/Accountants are outsourced – it’s extremely well placed for future growth and a place on centre stage.
Critical focus areas for the incoming CEO will be the encouragement and leadership of a passionate, predominantly volunteer workforce, ongoing governance uplift, scalable growth aligned to the 2030 organisational strategy and the diversification of fundraising sources, partnerships and sponsorships.
And of course, ‘getting the story out there’ – far and wide… hardly an onerous task with so many inspiring stories waiting to be told!
Use your strengths to grow with the business …
Funding is all donation-based with some long-term sponsors including schools in the mix. So, the field – as they say – is wide open. With a vast national primary school landscape and only a small proportion currently accessing the programs, the opportunity for growth is significant.
This is a very special leadership position where your commercial acumen, fundraising and/or philanthropic expertise provides a strong foundation as CEO. So long as you bring fundraising and relationship know-how backed by the capabilities of an emerging Chief Executive, there’ll be plenty of opportunity to grow in strength, drive momentum and positively shape the future of this unique enterprise.
