Re-vitalise 100 years of valued Australian social enterprise …
This cherished organisation began in Australia in 1909: by 1920 it had expanded into 6 States to cement its place in history. It brought fun, friendship and brave new horizons into the lives of hundreds of thousands of young Australian women.
Today, in Queensland, with almost 3,000 youth members and 1,000 volunteer leaders and adult members, it is the largest, most geographically dispersed youth organisation for girls and women in Queensland.
Facilitated by trained volunteers, this registered charity actively encourages members from all racial, ethnic, religious and socio-economic groups to join. Girl-led, fun-filled, non-formal educational programs are purpose designed to encourage young women to explore their potential as the leaders of tomorrow.
But all things change, and right now, this wonderful organisation is embracing and navigating the challenges of necessary transformation.
Across Australia the once reliable volunteering culture is shrinking. So, in this volunteer-driven NFP attracting and retaining adult volunteers to meet the demand for our services is a pressing concern.
What’s urgently needed is an experienced leader with the capability to develop and deliver an effective turnaround strategy and the superb communications and people skills to make it work.
It’s time to acknowledge the past. Preserve the heritage. Reshape the future. Strengthen the funding base. Promote the enterprise in optimistic, modern terms. Drive growth and operational efficiency. Bring all stakeholders into line with the ‘today’ vision.
With the support of an aligned and supportive Board and working in collaboration with the Executive team, you have all the skills and attributes expected from Chief Executive with well rounded experience at this level.
You come well-equipped to navigate complexity, drive financial growth and find innovative ways to future proof the organisation. And you are very enthused about inspiring a unified sense of purpose focused on empowering girls and young women through leadership development.
This is an exciting role for a CEO who loves a challenge – there’s already a growing appetite for innovation and change across the organisation. As with every organisation, there are legacy attitudes to be acknowledged and strategically transitioned.
Of course, there’s considerably more involved in this extraordinary chance to bring new opportunities in reach of the girls and young women of Queensland. So, for your application to carry the appropriate weight, you should discuss the nuances of this role with your Consultant before crafting a compelling covering letter. Please include the main values you believe you can add to this exceptional enterprise.
