In this senior leadership role, you most certainly can! This is a vitally important role with statewide responsibilities shaping Queensland’s bushfire‑mitigation strategy.

To ensure that all ‘your’ people on the ground stay safe, well prepared and are well equipped to protect their communities, you need to bring an extensive, well maintained knowledge bank.  

This means a strong, rounded understanding of issues around bushfire policy, land use and fuel loading and expert intelligence on fleet and assets approvals (working with State procurement), unit maintenance, upgrades and positioning. 

Of course, there’s more – much more – in a role that will include the formulation and implementation of statewide strategies, involvement with the State Bushfire Committee, work with State procurement to secure centralised equipment, and lots of detailed governance.   

You’ll also be expected to make good use of your finely tuned communication skills to frame complex issues and contribute to investigations and Committee representation at District and Area levels.  

You must ‘know your stuff’ from the ground up! You are able to match that significant record of operational excellence across contemporary bushfire management, with passion, resilience and the proven ability to lead with heart, clarity, and energy.
