Q4 – Share the Dignity
No one should ever have to choose between putting food on the table or buying period products. Yet for too many Australians, that’s still the reality. That simple truth is what drives Share the Dignity and has grown them into one of the nation’s most powerful movements for change.
What began with local collection drives has become a national effort to ensure that no one has to suffer the indignity of period poverty. Over the past 10 years, Share the Dignity has:
- Successfully campaigned for the removal of GST on period products.
- Installed more than 1,000 Dignity Vending Machines in schools, hospitals and public spaces so free pads and tampons are available when they’re needed most.
- Delivered more than 1 million It’s in the Bag donations, filled with period products and everyday essentials for women, girls and those who menstruate doing it tough.
- Collected the voices of more than 275,000 Australians through the 2021 and 2024 Bloody Big Surveys, using these insights to change the conversation, influence policy and push for menstrual equity.
Share the Dignity is not only providing period products, they are breaking taboos, changing the way we talk about periods, and advocating for long-term change.
Looking ahead, they want to see an Australia where no one has to miss out on life because they cannot afford period products. While menstrual equity will always be at the heart of what they do, they are also working towards ensuring better health outcomes for everyone who menstruates. By continuing to listen, share stories and push for change, they will keep working towards a future where dignity is a reality for all.
