A leadership role with real scope, purpose and connection to community

Working within this multicultural, community-led nonprofit delivering essential services for people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, the work is grounded in relationships and shaped by the lived experience, strengths and challenges of the communities the organisation supports.

Working across a broad portfolio of programs, you will play a key role in shaping how services are delivered, strengthened and evolved to meet community need. This is a role that requires both oversight and involvement, leading teams, guiding service delivery and ensuring programs are running effectively, while also looking ahead to identify opportunities, strengthen partnerships and contribute to long-term direction.

Cultural understanding matters. So does the leadership experience you’ve built over time, whether in community services, human services, advocacy, education, or other environments where you’ve led people, managed complexity and delivered meaningful outcomes. What matters most is how you apply that experience in a community-focused setting.

Taking ownership of program performance, including budgets, funding agreements and service outputs, you’ll also embed strong quality assurance and continuous improvement practices across the portfolio.

Just as importantly, you will be a visible and engaged presence, building relationships, representing the organisation and ensuring services remain connected and responsive to community need. Presence here isn’t about being everywhere; it’s about being genuine, approachable and consistent.

This is a complex and richly diverse environment, with communities bringing different perspectives, priorities and experiences. Success in this role comes from leading calmly and fairly, navigating challenging conversations, and supporting teams through change in a way that is practical, respectful and considered.

Providing steady, hands-on leadership across community services, you’ll ensure programs remain compliant, high-quality and responsive as policy, funding and regulatory requirements evolve. A key element of the role is translating these changes into services that continue to work for the people who rely on them.
