- Highly regarded organisation offering exceptional community services
- Part-time role
- Pro bono arrangement possible, hourly rate may be offered
Organised, empathetic, & seasoned professional to support the well-functioning Board and leadership through all aspects, especially governance + compliance.
What began 40+ years ago as a local centre offering support and social activities has evolved into a leading provider of aged care, wellness and community support services. Its mission has remained the same: to support older adults in living independently, staying connected and leading meaningful lives.
For staff and clients alike, this has long been considered a very happy and positive organisation, where everything done is done well. Recently, this vibrant organisation has focused on consolidation and remains stable.
Now there is an opportunity for a Company Secretary/Board Member who is drawn to helping people through nonprofit business.
We’re hoping to invite interest from a Secretary who has a strong governance background plus nonprofit knowledge/experience and an understanding of ACNC compliance requirements.
Important as it is, this position is really quite straightforward. You’ll be expected to manage the business of the Board and its Committees. You’ll support your Board and Chair to ensure everything runs to plan; provide informed advice on best practice in all aspects of corporate governance and compliance, maintain the registered office and its membership lists and be the key company contact for stakeholders.
And while there’s considerably more detail involved, there are certainly no surprises – nasty or otherwise. The job is what it is – a very senior role for a skilled, purposeful and experienced professional Secretary.
However, what is really crucial will be the way you approach it. Additional to all your financial and business acumen, you will need a lovely set of people skills.
You need to genuinely engage and get involved; always go the extra mile. Invite trust and confidence. Be convivial, warm and welcoming; readily available, empathetic; attuned to what’s happening around you (and maybe just a little bit humorous).
If you really ‘get’ what being a great Company Secretary is all about; take pride and pleasure in your work and are keen to commit to a non-profit organisation that’s bringing wonderful improvements to people’s lives, please contact us without delay.
