Overview of Client
Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) is a state-wide organisation of, by, and for people with diverse disability. All their work is focused on disability rights and advocacy. It champions the rights, voice, and leadership of people with disability across Queensland.
QDN’s work is centred around a strong network of people across Queensland and almost 30 peer support groups which inform, connect, lead, and influence change, with a clear belief that there should be ‘nothing about us without us’. QDN is grounded in the belief that people with disability are the best experts in their own lives and should be central to decision-making processes that affect them.
A vibrant, active network of influencers, decision-makers, spokespeople, consultants, group members and peer leaders with a drive to make change happen. They also work on projects that align with our vision and mission around important issues in the lives of people with disability. We believe it’s important to work together with communities, services, business, industry and government to lead and influence change.

Current Situation
With the retirement of their current Senior Finance Officer this opportunity has now become available at an exciting time for QDN as it embarks on a new chapter of growth extending its reach through a raft of new programs that have come online.
With well-established systems and procedures, the need for a “safe pair of hands” to pick up the reigns and continue the critical, functional, work of the finance department is clear. With a strong handover plan in place, you will be given a solid briefing with ongoing support from the incumbent as needed.

Organisational Plans for the Future
A strong pipeline of programs and funding are in place with QDN having secured $4 million in funding over the next four years to lead a new co-design strategy that ensures people with disability are engaged in all stages of statewide reforms.
The organisation is also working toward influencing the legacy of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, aiming to ensure accessibility and inclusion are embedded in planning and delivery. These projects place QDN in a strong position for ongoing growth and stability.

Role Overview
The Senior Finance Officer is a critical member of the finance team at QDN. Bringing strong business acumen and financial experience, within the Disability/Community Services sector, you can help grow and strengthen the organisation.
Self-driven and comfortably working autonomously & collaboratively you are a solutions seeker with a strong customer centric’ focus. An experienced Senior Finance Officer, you will be comfortable working across multiple facets of the business and with multiple audiences.
The Senior Finance Officer is responsible for managing and reporting of financial information for all QDN’s activities and will perform financial functions related to the collection, accuracy, recording, analysis and presentation of the company’s financial operations.
Responsibilities also include analysing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses and reporting the company’s finances to Management, offering suggestions about resource utilisation and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
Experience across several software programs such as MYOB, an intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel and Pivot tables is essential to being successful in this role.
You bring a highly organised and detailed work ethic to the position understand reporting timelines and deliverables.
A key focus of this organisation is people, and you have an innate ability to connect with people and build solid relationships you have an understanding and experience having worked within a non-for-profit environment.
With a high EQ you understand team dynamics and value culture having promoted positive culture in previous roles. Your people skills develop strong partnerships and ongoing relationships. The care of people is at your core.

With strong attention to detail and planning you are comfortable in your report writing skills with demonstrated experience reporting to board level. Happy speaking to multiple audiences across the organisation you are able to explain complex financial jargon in everyday language.
Experienced navigating the Government funding environment you understand reporting requirements involved in the grant acquittal process for government.
Fortnightly payroll is a critical function of this role so detailed experience in running and processing a payroll at a manual level through excel and MYOB is essential.

What We Are Looking For
- Qualifications and Technical Expertise: Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, or Commerce, with strong knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and reporting standards, including experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes.
- Financial Operations and Reporting: Skilled in performing month-end procedures, reconciliations, accruals, depreciation, and preparing management reports with variance analysis and corrective actions.
- Budgeting, Compliance, and Contract Management: Experienced in budgeting, forecasting, managing contractual obligations, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, frameworks, and quality systems.
- Leadership and Team Collaboration: Proven ability to supervise staff, support onboarding, and foster a positive, collaborative team environment while achieving departmental goals.
- Systems and Payroll Management: Proficient in MYOB and payroll processing, with excellent computer literacy and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technologies.
- Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proactive and personable approach to engaging stakeholders and solving problems in dynamic environments.
- Continuous Improvement and Corporate Services Support: Committed to improving financial and corporate services processes, supporting governance, HR, IT, and participating in team initiatives and projects.

- Reports directly to the Finance and Corporate Service Manager
- Collaborates with and supervisor AP Officer
- Liaises with the following: Auditor – Government funding bodies – Various external departments e.g. (Taxation Office, WorkCover Qld, Contractors, Superannuation Companies). – Suppliers
