SERVICE COORDINATOR – DISABILITY

Provide needed support, skills development & opportunities for people with disabilities & their families through this innovative, multi-service social enterprise

  • Two FT roles: one in Mitchelton & the other in Sunnybank (Brisbane)
  • Required: Tertiary quals in Disability/Community services or similar

For half a century this respected service provider has offered the disability community whole-of-life support. It provides an exceptionally wide range of individually-tailored care services under the NDIS. But what sets this social enterprise apart from other care providers is the sheer volume of ways in which it can help or work with its clients.

It provides employment in its commercial businesses, key training courses through its RTO, a job active program that assists its people to find meaningful work in the open job market and lots of life enriching activities; it builds homes and other social assets through its disability housing initiative. And much, much more.

The point of all this is so that each individual with a disability who becomes a client is empowered to live the best possible life and is encouraged to aim high and achieve all they are capable of.

However, while the organisation and its culture are unique, this role for a new Service Coordinator won’t be unfamiliar for someone who has worked in a similar role. Leading from the front, you’ll develop teams that implement all of the person-centred supports within established care programs or the innovative new programs you develop. But you’ll also be continuously liaising with stakeholders to make sure that everything is running sweetly, smoothly and on-time.

As you’ll know from the significant volume of professional work you’ve already done in this area of care, the central aim of any service coordinator is to work closely with each member of your team and to develop strategies to support their clients. Only by listening, coaching, leading and mentoring, can you be perfectly confident that every need of program participants are being met 100%.

But that’s just part of this role. So, ideally, you’re already conversant with the administrative and organisational detail that goes with a job like this (If not, you must be eager to learn – and learn fast!). We expect you to bring the skills you need to ascertain that all reporting obligations are being met, to manage change with resourcefulness and good spirit and to keep everything in your hub meshing well together and ticking over nicely. Clinical experience would also be highly regarded.

As you build and nurture your relationships with all clients, carers and families, you’ll synchronise these with other service providers to ensure the best possible referrals of service. Overseeing all the logistics, keeping up with new trends, you’ll always be on the look-out for new service opportunities and work steadily to foster growth in current services and your client base.

There’s a lot of sit-down work involved in these roles. But of course, in the end, it’s all about people – being aware of what’s happening with each client and family– and looking for those little extra ways to make life easier and happier. Perhaps you can tell us about some ways you may have done this in previous jobs?

Our expectation is that you are a qualified and experienced, committed and well-reputed coordinator or team leader with a good knowledge of people-centred disability service and where it sits within the NDIS framework.

Your cheerful and positive, can-do approach, bright personality and team spirit will all add lustre to your application which needs to be supported by a Current Police Check and Blue Card and a current Drivers Licence.
