GROUP INSURANCE ADVISOR – NFP Brisbane
Review what exists & apply your considerable expertise to initiating change + continual improvement in a role that offers stimulation, variables and variety.
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications & relevant industry/peak body memberships
- Significant contemporary experience in a large & complex organisation
- Located Brisbane city rim.
Administering some 250+ congregations along with multiple schools, colleges and hundreds more essential agencies providing essential community services across Queensland, this previously-traditional, Church-based organisation has driven sweeping change to re-emerge as a progressive, successful and contemporary business.
Now, with considerable ‘future proofing’ in place, it has established this new position for an expert and roundly experienced Group Insurance Advisor. The aim of the role is to judiciously develop partnerships across all of its congregations and multi-faceted agencies in Queensland to ensure that there are failsafe systems in place ‘right across the board’ with which to manage and mitigate loss.
Of course, it’s all been done before. And that’s really the point- the idea now is to go through all the insurance arrangements that have been put in place over time; evaluate those; measure their worth and decide if there are new and better ways that could be adopted.
And since you’ll combine this with managing the operational effectiveness and financial sustainability of the entire insurance space, you can also expect to answer queries, research, produce evidence based responses, offer advice, co-ordinate insurable risk management, oversee compliance and help with educating stakeholders on the vital importance of having the right insurance coverage.
Another innovative strategy recently introduced by the Church includes forming a National Insurance Group, where Insurance Advisors from states around Australia work together to share ideas, resources and experience. If you are our successful candidate, you will represent Queensland in that group.
To be ideally suited to this new, stimulating, never-two-days-the-same position, you need to be a roundly experienced general industry professional with a strong record of managing an extremely diverse and complex group insurance portfolio. You must be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the core principles of insurance and how these are best applied.
Adding lustre to your application will be a proven ability to:
- direct and undertake research and analysis,
- provide expert advice and formulate and negotiate innovative solutions to complex insurance matters in line with corporate policy,
- demonstrate sound knowledge of the Insurance Code of Practice, insurance contracts and relevant legislation
- achieve success in intricate commercial negotiations
- create and deliver memorable executive presentations and associated documentation.
A friendly, approachable and respectful demeanour and a willingness to act with integrity as a valued team member of this Church-based organisation, is a necessary adjunct to your professional presence, skills and experience.
