    Stepping Stone is a member-based community organisation that successfully addresses the serious impact of mental illness, a community of people dedicated to one another’s recovery.  

    Focusing on strengths rather than illness, members are given the opportunities to rejoin the worlds of friendships, family, important work, employment, education, safe and affordable housing, social recreation, and access to the services and supports they may individually need.  

    Stepping Stone is a member of Clubhouse International and dedicated to suicide prevention and ending social and economic isolation for people living with mental illness. 

    Stepping Stone is based on the philosophy of the Clubhouse Model, which was established in New York in 1948. Currently there are over 55,000 adults with a mental illness in over 400 Clubhouses in 32 countries. Clubhouse International is a global network that promotes the development and success of Clubhouses through its training and accreditation programs.  

    Stepping Stone Clubhouse commenced in 1994 and is situated on the southside of Brisbane at Coorparoo. Of the 400 International Clubhouses, Stepping Stone Clubhouse is one of ten International Training bases, providing Clubhouse training to Clubhouses from all over the world.

  • Current Situation
    • Partnership organisation where members who attend run the clubhouse together with staff.  
    • Everything is done side by side creating opportunities for members to be involved in social skills, vocational, feel better about themselves to get out in community to study, work, find better housing etc.  
    • Current CEO joined the organisation in 1996 
    • New clubhouse at Chermside opened in 2024  
  • Organisation Plans for the Future
    • Working towards a new structure based on upcoming changes in the NDIS  
    • Funding landscape is changing, and diversification is a priority – this will be an evolutionary process, noting it will have a direct impact on the purpose and intent of the organisation.

    • Casual, loud, fun environment 
    • Chermside is one room – noisy  
    • Members who come along do work of the Clubhouse  
    • Clubhouse assists with finding them jobs in the community 
  • What does this new role look like?
    • Grant writing and corporate partnerships experience  
    • Systems development  
    • Corporate Partnerships – looking to develop this area noting success with a small number of targeted corporate partners  
    • Funding diversification is a priority and looking for someone with experience in this area. 
    • Autonomous role with support from others as they can. 

    Position description

  • Strategy Focus
    • This role is responsible for the implementation of the strategic plan which will come from management through the CEO 
    • Identify targets, where are they fundraising, build donor database utilising the work done prior, shaping where to go. To put a plan together in line with purpose and priority.  
    • Experience with corporate partnerships essential as they are viewed as a logical way to grow diversified funding base. 
    • Good opportunity for career progression 
  • Hours

    8:30am-4:30pm, 3 days per week
