  • Current Situation

Around 5 years ago LLW merged with Lyndon AOD services in NSW.  Wyla was originally a Lyndon rehab and detox service located on the Bloomfield Hospital site in Orange – which was subsequently taken over by LLW.   Elouera was established just after the merger was completed and is the only AOD residential rehabilitation service in the region. Initially focused on First Nations families, it is used more broadly now. The community and outreach services offered by LLW are based in Bing Street and are also under the remit of this CSM.  Many of the staff worked at Lyndon for long periods of time, have been present through the merger and now work for LLW.  It has been challenging process, which was not always well received.  The demand for AOD services is high and there is a perception that “getting in” to the service is difficult.

The service model includes pre and post support to maximise the chance of success for clients who do the “live in” program. Staff include Registered Nurses, AOD Support Workers, Treatment Facilitators and Pre and Post Treatment support.  Each residential site also has a Team Leader. The model is evidence based and outcomes focused.  Shared services offered by LLW in Queensland include HR, finance, marketing and comms, clinical governance etc.  Operations reviews, executive touchpoints and clinical governance meetings are monthly.
