Overview of Client
Co.As.It. Community Services Ltd. is a service provider within the aged care and community services industry, which has won recognition for high quality service delivery and excellence in care. Constant research, planning and improvement ensures that Co.As.It’s programs and services are relevant, responsive and meet the diverse needs of its clients, especially those from CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) backgrounds. Funding provided by the Commonwealth and State Governments enables the organisation to fulfil this important role within the community.
A registered business with approximately 400 staff, 85% of whom speak more than one language. It operates as a private company with an independent Board of Directors and a CEO. Their diverse staff enables them to cater for the cultural and linguistic diversity of elderly people in southeast Queensland. A firm belief in the relationship between clients and their community workers as the key to client satisfaction.
With over 40 years’ experience in providing services to CALD communities, Co.As.It. is well placed to understand the needs of people from different cultural and language backgrounds, coordinate services with clients and family members and assign care staff who are aware of the client’s preferences, religious beliefs, special celebrations and regional culinary requirements. Often the care staff will speak the same language as the client.
Co.As.It. assists NDIS clients and supports people aged over 65 to remain living in their own homes. In addition to these programs, it supports and assists people aged under 65 to live independently under the Queensland Community and Support Scheme. Co.As.It. also self-funds a number of initiatives to improve the quality of life of culturally and linguistically diverse and mainstream communities. These include social outings, physical activities such as dance classes, stay active classes, community centres, cultural support to aged care facilities, dementia and carer support.
Constantly undertaking research studies to gather information on the difficulties and concerns of the CALD community member that may not be able to access mainstream services due to language barriers, feel isolated due to declining traditional networks, poor written and/or spoken English skills, lack of computer literacy, difficulty with transport and geographical dispersion or remoteness. This information is often used to seek Government funding for projects that will inform and educate the CALD person and establish support networks that will make a difference in their daily lives.

Current Situation
With the recent departure of the organisation’s Accountant, an opportunity now exists for an accomplished and proven Accountant preferably CA or CPA qualified with experience working in aged care/disability services/community services sector to join the finance team.
Well placed for the next chapter of this organisations journey, with a steady revenue stream and firm financial footing, the incoming Accountant will inherit a strong financial framework and be part of a collaborative cohesive team that enhances the financial capabilities of the organisation.

With this growth comes the need for this Accountant to be actively involved and hands on in the financial activities of the business. Reporting directly to the IT/Finance Manager and indirectly to the CEO the Accountant takes direct responsibility for the general ledger.

What are we looking for
The Accountant is a critical member of the finance team at Co.As.It, bringing strong business acumen and financial experience within the Aged Care sector you can help grow and strengthen the organisation.
Self-driven and comfortably working autonomously & collaboratively you are a solutions seeker with a strong customer centric’ focus. An experienced Accountant comfortable working across multiple facets of the business and with multiple audiences.
The Accountant is responsible for managing and reporting of financial information for all Co.As.It. divisions and will perform financial functions related to the collection, accuracy, recording, analysis and presentation of the company’s financial operations.
Responsibilities also include analysing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses and reporting the company’s finances to Management, offering suggestions about resource utilisation and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
Experience across a range of software programs and data platforms such as PRODA, MAC, Services Australia is essential to being successful in this role.
You bring a highly organised and detailed work ethic to the position understand reporting timelines and deliverables.
A key focus of this organisation is people and you have an innate ability to connect with people and build solid relationships, in particular, you have an understanding of the culturally and linguistically diverse communities Co.As.It delivers business to.

The role
- Tertiary qualifications (Accounting/Business/Commerce).
- Proven experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting procedures, principles and reporting standards, gaining experience in researching as it relates to accounting issues.
- Well organised and have exceptional time management skills giving the ability to multitask within tight timeframes.
- Proactive, personable and confident to engage with key stakeholders to get the job done.
- Problem solving skills and the ability to function in a rapidly changing work environment.
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills in
